    MFTS what causes failure?

Had issues with this so replaced but replacement seems to have packed up to. Is this coincidence because of using old parts for replacement or maybe something else causing failure? I was thinking of buying a new one but at £125 the last thing I want to do is fit it and a recurring problem kills it

Any ideas what might be killing them off?

I would say you will only get so much out of a second hand one as it
is heat cycles that kills them so they only have a finite lifespan.

Are you sure its not just a wiring problem/ bad connection that is
temporally fixed when you change it?

Probably they are fine. Replacing used with used isn't necessarily a guarantee of no problems. *IF* they are failing, it's either the internal electronics (broken connection?) or the external wiring. I would suspect the external wiring before the actual MFTS.
