B4 Avants - Engine Earth Strap

All B4 Avant owners who have had their engines in and out, remember to make sure that you refit the engine earth strap on the bottom front of the engine to body.

Also run a seperate earth lead to your earth on each of your headlights HIDs.

Anyone got a pic of the ABY engine earth strap location?

Alex it bolts under the drivers side chassis leg and attaches to the bottom of your engine block just above the subframe

The top red ring indicated here



The lower red ring indicates the starter feed I think.

Alex, on the B3 Coupe, it goes straight from battery to one of the bellhousing bolts/a bolt on the gearbox, hence why you don't currently have one

What about S2 saloon battery earth strap, where it's attached to chassis? Earth point under left taillight seems to be the only one there.

Yeah I remember now I had rigged it up to the ABS bracket after I removed the battery tray a couple years ago. It was never a great position for it so I plan to make some improvements. I've ordered some M8 rivnuts so I'm planning to add 2 new earth straps, one right by the starter and one on the other side across to the ABS bracket or chassis rail.
