    What is it?

The sensor beside the front pulley at the oil pump, what is it and what part no?
Its doing the usual VAG sensor trick and leaking oil through the middle.
I was under the impression that oil pressure and temp were monitored from the sensors by the radiator.
    Its an ABY.

My oil temp sensor is leaking into the rubber hood of the eyelet connector that connects to it. Not to bad at the moment though. keeps the connector rust free. :0p

The oil temp sensor is on the oil pump as Eric (IrishS2) has pointed out. Here is more info about the Oil Temp sensor:

Here is info regarding the oil pressure senders:

AAN Oil Pressure Sender, Switches, Wiring and Check Valves (applies to ABYs and ADUs)

Oil Temp gauge sender (not the normal style you think it is):

Common fault, did my tdi a month ago, leaked enough on tray to drip on the drive
Needed a triple jointed wrist to get at it , lol
