    Two photos and a pdf:

And then there is this: Bosch specs on the 0227100209 (Audi 4A0905351A) POS

It's worth noting that POS can be fairly easily repaired as detailed in the link posted here:

One I repaired has had no problems for a year now.

Thanks for the reminder. I had to laugh when I saw my post in that thread. A pretty butterfly must have flown by because I forgot to add the link to the repair to my POS post. I will do that now (I have created a pdf of Sigi's post).

I got a replacement POS unit just before Christmas. It's got the part number 0 040 401 027, not sure if it's the correct part or safe to use on my car for a little experiment.
Looks like the Brown Hitachi one but it's made by BERU.

I really should read your links more thoroughly! Bit of a stupid question really.

Thanks for taking a look. Great posts as ever!

Here is some nice factory Bosch data (from the 2014 motorsport catalog) - it also points to a bunch of other coils which may be usable on 20VT applications.

Notable aspects are the very low activation current and max primary current of 8.5A... Note also the primary voltage clamping at 380V and how heat conductive paste MUST be used.

Similar to an IM 3.1 data sheet that I have in my library. I thought I got it here but maybe not.

Are these parts considered a service Item? I have never changed mine in 16 years, should I get a new pair to ensure optimal performance???

                  Thanks!

Perhaps more of a possible D-I-Y road-side repair spare item to have thoughtfully stashed in your glove-box for that next away trip.
