Need some input: Load reduction relay, position 1, Central relay panel.

    On a C4 UrS4/S6

I thought the 213 Load reduction ("X" or "relief") relay in position 1 of the Central Relay Panel under the steering column (above the driver's knee bolster) was a 357906381B. However, in doing some research for K.Alle here with his potential 213 issue, I pulled mine (to see if it will come apart - Nope, not without destruction). Then I found the PN on the side as 443951253J. WTF? Two listings for it (1985-88 Fan relay and 1996 A6 non-quattro load reduction relay - no UrS4 or UrS6 listings ???)

Could somebody with a black 213 (e.g. UrS6) pull their 213 relay and take and post a photo of the PN (similar to the ones below)(please)?

My 213 (left end of the central electric panel):

A black 213 in an UrS6 (what is the PN on the side)?

Accordng to the relay description on the side, it looks like an ordinary single pole single throw high current relay if you were trying to find a replacement.

Not me personally. I am trying to find out why my friend Kate in the parts department keeps telling me that the UrS4/S6 load reduction "213" relay is a 357906381B when in fact I am finding that my gray 213 is a 443951253J. I am curious as to whether the black "213"s are 357906381B or 443951253J. If the are 443951253J as well, then I want to know what the three digit number on a 357906381B.

Nothing serious but still potentially useful in the future.

Thanks very much. Now to find out whether any C4 UrS4/S6 folks have a 111 relay on the Central Relay Panel, position 1.

Interesting read here UrS4boy, so you had the same part no as me (443951253J) when it "should" be 357906381B .

Mine is black, rated 60A 12V, and yet we have identical part no on them?
Is the color the thing that tells us what rating it has and part no what "type" of relay it is?
            Confusing.

It appears that the grey "213" relays are PN 443951253J with 70 Amp rating. The black "213" relays are also PN 443951253J but they are only rated at 60 Amp and labeled made in Ireland (macspring, which county? ). The circuit diagrams are identical between the grey and black versions. I have not seen an actual 357906381B relay but it seems to be black, labeled "111" and rated at 60 Amp. Any of them will probably work as a load reduction/relief relay, eliminating power draws during the time the ignition key is turned to "START".

There you go, those sneaky Audi engineers color coding stuff!
What confuses me is why Kate is so persistant with 357906381B when it seems that a lot of cars (most?) were fitted with 443951253J .. but Kate is indeed moody sometimes
