Could be small enough to miss customs - I need mine asap - I'll tell you how I get on.

(I got my VAG-COM stuff from Canada and it slipped through customs - nice and cheap )

We could do with some 'friends' in the USA etc, to purchase this stuff and send it as gifts. That we we could get round the import duty

Dremel molesters anonymous is what you are. Remind me never to let any of you near my car

But I now see Doug concern. I think a little work could create a detent what would keep the lever in place.

The valve gets sent by priority post. It is wrapped in bubble wrap and put in a small card envelope. No customs or duties.

You only pay customs and duty on products over about $50 I think.

I have the valve and love it. First time I went to change the oil I put the pan down and flipped it open. So clean and effortless. The only PITA left about changing the oil is the verticle oil filter. What a mess!

If there is a lot of interest maybe I could look into a GP for all you guys over yonder. Let me know...

Just had the garage on the phone who are servicing my car. I asked them to fit the Fumoto valve in place of the sump plug.

The guy reckoned he wouldn't fit it to his car as it looked like it could open far too easily. We had a bit of a chat and I told him to fit it anyway.

Has anyone who uses these ever had any problems with them opening when they shouldn't or heard any horror stories?

If you are worried about it opening, you could connect a bit of hose with jubilee clips and block the other end of the hose - then you can check it after a while to see if it has opened - or connect the other end to a catch tank:

Very flashy Doug! That was a very badly disguised excuse for you to post a picture

I'm sure it will be OK as they are certified OEM on stuff like Subarus, Toyotas and even some US Fords.

That Fumoto valve looked so wicked I just ordered one. I got one for my dad too so that's his first Christmas present (He's a car nut too). Even the order with two of them should come under the customs charge. My total order was $63:60 and I think the threshold is about $70. Well, fingers crossed anyway. I'll let you all know if I manage to miss any additional taxation.

I got mine yesterday - so 7 days delivery time. No extra charges

It's bigger than I was expecting.

                            Doug

They are big, but mines fitted now and it's fine. No clearance issues at all .

Also now using Castrol RS 10w60 oil pressures are higher. Now between 2.2 - 2.5 bar at tickover!
