Removing rusty residue in silicone coolant hoses?

Is there a way to thoroughly clean the rust scale inside the coolant pipes or some kind of chemical soak that would loosen it up? Trying to get through the bends in the smaller diameter hoses would be a pita. These are silicone hoses, so I do want to re-use them.

    yes,

i have done this before Pat.

you can use a snake like tool, depends how small they are but it is a piece of very pliable wire that has a memory and quite rough bristles on the end. i think they are actually used to clean brass instruments

i used brake cleaner on the inside, not sure if this is a good idea but it worked well.

The ones I have are Samco silicone jobbies, be a shame not to re-use them. It isn't that bad and the rust comes off easy, I just want to make sure I get it all off.
