    Sump removal?

Had a quick search and can find a couple of threads that mention removing the sump and the difficult to access bolts. Getting to all the fixings isn't a problem as I have the tools and a pit. I just want to know how far the sub-frame has to be lowered to get clearance, would removing the current sub frame bolts and hanging it off longer ones work?

Not up to anything exciting like rods, just routine maintenance. Whoever rebuilt my engine went a bit mental with the sealant so I want to be sure my oil pickup is free from debris and fit two new proper gaskets as opposed to old ones covered in sealant. Also when I removed the extension wing I found some unpleasant sludge lurking in it, like the sort of stuff you get after a head gasket failure, again I don't want any of that in my sump. I know the engines fine but it was apart a couple of time just before I got the car so I guess it's left over from then.

I only removed mine with the motor out so im not 100% sure in this but, i thought it was possible to remove the snub and unbolt mounts and jack engine up instead of subframe down giving enough access.

Undo the subframe bolts so it drops then you will have enough room. The rear bolts are hidden, you need a long Alan key for these, preferably one that fits into a socket.
Take your time with these. If you strip the heads you are in the Sh8t.you will need two gaskets when you replace it.
