Last and more correct update to this thread. 
The fault was a bit of slightly not tight enough samco hose going from the boost gauge's connection onto a small plastic T piece connector let into the vacuum tube a couple of inches before the tube goes into the ECU.
Basically the connection from the boost gauges pipe was not tight and was allowing boost going into the ECU to seep away causing it to go into limp mode.
Pushed the tubing onto the T piece connector and used a small zip tie as a pseudo jubilee clip.
Boost all the tiem every time.
