    WR Quattro Non Starter

Hi Guys, I need some Technical assistance with my Ur Quattro that just wont start....I have conducted all the Pin Out checks on the ecu with the assistance of Phil Payne (known and departed Quatto Guru), so now I seek further help from avid Audi fans.
I have all the usual:- spark, fuel and must say that it did star and run for 30 seconds, but then died and never started again. I need this running as she's been standing for too long now. Any thoughts or checks?? Please pass my way.

How did it run for those 30 seconds, was it really lumpy or ok. Did it rev?

As an experienced suggestion... Timing pin on the fly wheel.... Either missing or bent, or the sensors are damaged following inpact with the pin... We struggled to get beyond the wasted spark after rebuild, and it was because the rebuilt flywheel had clipped the timing pin against the starter and clipped/dropped the pin. Make sure the timing pin is correct on the flywheel and make sure the ecu gets beyond the wasted spark...

Hi adam, It ran and just ticked over, pressing the throttle made it just die but did seem smooth.
Ian, thanks mate, but both pins and sensors appear fine...had the starter motor out at Phil Payne's request to check length and indeed existence of the pin. Both Sensors read correct, all be it one is slightly lazy.
        Thanks guys

i had a simmilar issue on mine.

i would remove all the spark plugs and check if they are working as they should. if they are, than it should be a fuel issue, clogged pump, filters, WUR...

            Just a thought....
Have a look at the adjustment of the fuel metering plate and the fuel delivery... In the Bentley Manual there is specific measurements for the lift and flow of the plate. After decades of adjustment, ours needed a lot of fettling following a complete engine rebuild because the KEjet was set for an unrebuilt engine... It took John (JMR Racing) several patient hours before it settled down to run properly again....

Thanks Ian, I'll check the metering head out - might have to be the old method with a depth gauge as I don't have a setting gauge..

Sounds like fuel or air. Have you checked for leaks on the pipes/clips between air meter and manifold.

Thanks adam, but I don't think it's air or fuel mate...i need to check for a decent spark and consistent I think, I'm not convinced it isn't a maveric spark, I've got new plugs, coil etc, new injectors as the spray pattern wasn't a decent cone and the fuel pressure increased also...remember it's a WR so doesnt have an air meter as such...thanks

sounds like a dodgy fuel pump. mine did this after ingesting some crap.. would idle fine for ages but touching the throttle would make it bog down...
