I'd certainly get a proper ECU map on it.

It'll be one of the best and most cost-effective mods you do.

Tell me more about the ECU maps then please. What's the one to go for? Presumably I need to sort out the issue first, or is it the other way around?

There is an RS2 boost profile on here somewhere for comparsion.
Make sure that the camshaft setting is referenced off the flywheel marking not the crank pulley as the latter is known to deform.
I guess we might have ovelooked the Hyperboost dump valve! Is it a recirculating type and orientated correctly?
One school of thought is to return the vehicle to stock and troubleshoot it hence we are looking for non standard components. Once it performs adequately then you can consider optimising it!

Another lesser known fact about the RS2 is that for some reason Audi raised the mid range boost on the later model compared with the earlier. There are two Motoronic variants an B and a C.
I wonder if the original eproms fitted were the earlier version assuming you have the later!
It was only a psi or so but it would go a little way to making the difference up. It would also assume that MTM did not touch the boost chip to get the meagre 15bhp increase they state. Unlikely I know but....!
          Here is that profile:

I think the concensus is this is the correct RS2 cambelt timing (from this thread):

AAN and ABY = 054109119H 151 tooth timing belt. (151 Z in Katespeak) (works with the 29 tooth AAN and ABY water pump)
              NM,7A and 3B = 054109119G "toothed belt" 147 teeth (not 151 for the 3B)
RS2 = 034109119C = 150 teeth according to the photo (not 148 as I previously thought) (works with the 26 tooth RS2 water pump)

When you remove the six nuts on the wastegate cap, leave two opposite ones still on a few threads while you totally remove the other 4. IF the cap doesn't rise up on the spring, it is stuck on the membrane and you will need to use some type of wooden or plastic wedge to get the cap started. Once it springs up, push down on the cap, against the spring and remove the final two nuts with your other hand. Then gently allow the cap to rise. (Installation is the reverse, push down and get a couple of nuts started by hand before you install the other 4).

Looking at the boost chart link I have overlaid those figures on to the print I have from the last rolling road test. Bit of a difference! I have used the later figures as my car does have an immobiliser chip in the key, and after it fell out one day, I know it works!

Wastegate dismantling now tomorrow as my wife had other things I had to do.

                    Tis odd!
Might I suggest renaming the thread "RS2 late boost" in the hope that you attract more punters to contribute!

I can remap the ECU properly if you want with a software I have developed and tested on multiple standard RS2's.
That way you will know that at least it's not the remap. I would not bet on it magically curing all the problems though. Most likely there are hardware issues as well.

Good idea, a much better title. I tried, and looked at FAQ, but can't work out how!! Please could you point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Might need the help of a Moderater for that I guess.
Anyway I bumped the thread earlier as I saw a certain person online whose input you could do with. We seem to have attracted his attention! Interestingly he has not instantly flagged up something obvious so its back to the sleuthing.
I am struggling to think of something that would account for that kind of behaviour other than what I suggested earlier and is documented in the history. As its done it with both standard and the MTM chips its not suggesting the Motronic. I had a recollection that Superchips may have fitted a bleed valve and a stronger spring which might not have been undone. Thats why I am being over cautious about checking things. It would have also meant that perhaps the Wgfv that Audi use to control the wastegate might have been replaced incorrectly although I would have thought that whoever done the subsequent MTM conversion would have picked up. Of course it may have been modified by somedody else other than Superchips.
Pics help as somebody might see something that been overlooked.

Would unplugging the N75, and checking boost pressure not reveal a big waste gate spring. (Just its a 5 minute check)

If he has a boost gauge. Ideally he should have that and some sort of diagnostic software so that we can check things without having him keep going back to the dealership. In their absence there is no harm in physically checking!
All we can say is that there is a big descrepancy between what he should have and what he has got. If its an hardware issue it will need to be physically verified anyway.

If he had a defective map sensor, is it possible to cause this ? Or a blockage in the feed to it, water trap ect..
