where is AAN engine serial no stamped? also how to apply for log book change.

Where can I find the serial number of my AAN engine? Is it just stamped on the block somewhere? Does anyone have a picture of where to find it?

Also, how have people got on with notifying the dvla about a change of engine? I have invoices for the supply and installation of the engine, so not expecting it to be a problem (crosses fingers)

On the head, exhaust side, near the front, just under the cam cover vent tube. Same location for the the AAN, ABY and ADU, as shown in this ADU diagram:

Is there any concrete number on how many ABY and AAN engines were made? Mine says 00ABY5000 or something along the lines which strikes me as a weird number

I've heard it was something less than that at 4800 or similar.

I just did a build tag yesterday for an Oct. 96 build 97 UrS6. It's AAN number was AAN 0214nn. The last listed AAN number is 022061 at the end of May, 1997.

The last ABY SN that I can find is ABY004687 on May 31, 1995.

The last ADU SN that I can find is ADU 004201 on July 31, 1995.

There is a section on the V5 to fill in for the engine swap, you need to provide evidence of the engine swap.

You should be fine to just send a copy of the invoices, with a covering letter.

I got the garage that did my MOT to make a note that the engine code was XXXXX. And they accepted that.
