    Ethanol in fuel

    Came across this.

Is this an issue on the S2?

That is very interesting. I only ever use super unleaded but it is odd that some parts of the country have Eth added to super if the article is to be believed. Definitely needs more research and I would welcome more info posted on fuel pumps. We are all guilty of just rocking up to the pumps and filling up without giving it any though., I deffo take it for granted.

    Many thanks for the post.

It seems like super unleaded is free of Ethanol so probably a safe bet.

I only use Shell Nitro but upon doing some research, I have been informed that the Nitro has 5% Ethanol.

However, I have heard of people running lean Ethanol racing fuel on the S2's without problems.

Needs more input from forum members with the know how.

i dunno about that article. but i run 98% pure ethanol in mine a few of my drag racing buddies use E-98 and cut it with just a smidge of C-16 or similar to give it some lubricity. and a slight "race gas" smell to it to help with tech and other things.....

here in USA almost every pump has at least 10% ethanol. some very few and far between still offer pure gas.

for me it was simple, the race gas i used to run cost $16/USD per gallon which is a lot compared to pump gas at the time being $3.50-$4.00 / gal. with E-85 going for around $2/gal, the switch was a no brainer.

i only get about 1.5 miles per gallon anyhow with my car, so it saves me some fair amount of money too.

I'm sure i read that all fuels have to have 5% ethanol now. Over here proper 98 octane fuel hasn't been available for over a decade so 5% ethanol is all we can get. I found information from a few companys claiming its ~100-102ron. Certainly when it first appeared i wasn't the only one to notice how much better the car went vs regular 95 stuff. Sure ethanol is more corrosive but with 5% or 10% content i dont see that being a problem, its better than the old stuff we used to get.

I came to the question about filters for E85 https://www.efihardware.com/products...5-Fuel-Filters
Are they really really needed ?

Tesco momentum has 3% methanol and 5% ethanol.

                http://www.tescopfs.com/our-fuel/specifications

I run 20% methanol in my fuel, Bosch 044, siemens 875cc injectors, jaz plastic tank and the fuel lines are Aeroquip push fit.
