Max safe power and torque for exhaust...

I have a 2.75" downpipe, no CAT and mated to a high flow 2.5" system by Pipewerx, Does anyone know the absolute max power the system will take without any serious detrimental issues.
Its not a track car so it'll be occasional blasts to the red line

I'd have thought you are OK up to mid-300s
You really want a 3" system to get the most out of your turbo though I think.

What would be the result of trying to get too much out of it? EGT's going up, unable to rev past 5000rpm or power dropping off rapidly when trying to go to red line?!!!
        Thanks.

I was thinking about this the other day. I have 3B downpipe with 2.5'' back to a side exit just infront of the off side rear wheel. It has a slight flattened section where the prop bearing sits which wont help. This is on my typ85 90 with ABY in it so no cats. Im aiming for 400s soon and wasn't planning on changing much apart from DP.

I run 3" DP then 3" to the rear subframe with 2.5" after the cutout valve. Best of both worlds and more noise than you can shake a stick at.

              Thanks.

Sounds about right. Too much backpressure behind the downpipe.

So what if i went for 2.75" throughout?
I noticed on the S1 rally car at Carfest last weekend that it had what looked like a 3.5" downpipe/ drainpipe but rest of system was defo 2.75" though only one straight through silencer and that developed 530bhp....

That's similar what i run - 3" de-catted to the rear then 2.75" through the Milltek silencer and back-box. It provides a brilliant combination or smooth running on the motorway and presence when you put your foot down.

Downpipe should be as big as is sensible, the rest of the system can be smaller, as the gas will have cooled a bit by then and thus occupies a smaller volume.

3" downpipe is a good idea, then drop the size at the rear seats.

If you run a cutout valve, you can have a more restrictive, quieter rear section without compromising wot performance or noise!
