Undoing crank bolt with engine out of the car

Any hints? Tried earlier but it's being a PITA and I just can't secure the engine properly, so that's not helping either...

I've done it with the engine on an engine stand, where is yours?

No air and the engine is currently on the ground, as it's just me and I don't have a crane just yet

Might be possible, but you're going to need the locking tool, a huge 3/4" breaker bar and a fat bloke to sit on the engine

          Good luck

If you can secure the engine by maybe bolting wooden blocks to the mounts then using the locking tool it's possible. I had it on a stand with the front supported

Use wooden blocks under the engine mounts and someone sitting on it to keep it steady as you crack it off

Air gun is far by the easiest if you can get one. We used the big bertha 3/4" to remove it on mine

I thought I heard using an air gun on these was bad news ? Causing cracks and the woodruff key to crack too

I also did mine on the floor, I locked the crank tool at 7oclock position then levered against it at 9oclock I was using a 3/4 long arm with a scaffold bar as an extension

Yup. But if you have to you have to. But then you should install a new tooth belt pulley to be safe.

I put a jack handle into my locking tool, and a tube over my breaker bar. That gives 2 6 foot levers you just squeeze together and the bolt undoes. Could lock the tool lever against the ground if its particularly tight.
