      C4 UrS Fuel Lines

The line you are pointing to is the fuel return line. Item 31 below, PN 034133715AL. It seems to be still available, at least in the US system, as shown here for US$275 (which might explain the patch, which, if it isn't leaking, isn't critical since it is on the low(er) pressure side of the fuel pressure regulator). What is more interesting (and potentially dangerous is the braided fuel line coming from the fuel filter. In NAmerica, those were leaking due to heat cycling (colder temps in winter than some areas). This lead to a recall. Mine was replaced in 1998 or 1999.

True for the supply line but he is asking about the return line, not the supply line.

This photo from cooperquattro shows an UrS6 fuel line. The feed is the one on the right at the fuel rail (left at the top of the photo). The return comes out of the bottom of the fuel pressure regulator and is a separate part.

I will check which one it is for definite later. I think it is the return but not sure. The dam thing had been cut and joined by the previous owner.

The one you are pointing to in the photo is definitely the return line. No question.

I can't think why it would have been cut and rejoined other than it must have rubbed through some how, requiring that repair.

                    Good luck.

The cut line is the one that comes from the bottom of the regulator on the fuel rail. Do you think an S4 braided one will fit as there is a set on Ebay?

I am quite sure that a braided UrS4 return line will fit an UrS6 fuel rail. The only return line left in the system as of 2007 was the 034133715AL which covered all of the C4 UrS4s and UrS6s (they were first used on the UrS6s). As a result the return lines are very likely to be interchangeable.

HOWEVER, the UrS4 braided fuel feed line will NOT REPEAT NOT fit on an UrS6 fuel rail. The UrS4 feed line attaches to the UrS4 fuel rail via a banjo bolt (and two crush washers). For the UrS6 Audi eliminated that connection and silver-soldered the fuel feed line to the fuel rail. When you buy the UrS6 fuel feed line, you also get the fuel rail since they are deemed to be one part, PN 034133681R, which by the way is the only feed line in the system, at least in 2007. The UrS4 separate parts were discontinued prior to that.

Here is a photo showing my UrS4 fuel rail and separate feed line (and banjo bolt)

This photo shows the UrS4 feed and return lines (both braided)

Is that a braided one Cooper or the urS6 non braided variant. If it will fit my car and its the return pipe then I'm interested.
                            thanks
