    Compression Test

Just carried out a compression test after damaging the hot wheel on my turbo!
And would like some input from some people, as I am thinking the cylinder head is going to have to come off for a inspection!!

    I have je custom pistons 82mm c/r 8-5-1
Stone cold engine, turbo is removed so can't start to warm up
    Wot

    1 - 10bar
    2 - 10bar
    3 - 8bar
    4 - 8 1/2bar
    5 - 9bar

    Cheers tom

Difficult to say cold but you'd expect about 10 Bar across the board. Best to be safe and take it to bits.

You should test the compression on a hot engine, also take put the fuel pump relay and hold open the throttle fully

I can't do it with a warm engine as the turbo and exhaust manifold have been removed, but I did do it with the throttle wide open. I would expect maybe 1/2 bar differance between cylinders.

Factory spec is 9-13bar with a CR of around 9:1. They quote a maximum difference between cylinders of 3bar Personally I'd be happier with 0.5bar as you say. I'd pull the head off for a look if I were you.

Or you could buy one of these and have a look
