Problem fitting RS2 EVO IC - worth the hassle?

Today I tried to fit the Wagner RS2 EVO IC on my RS2 cross member... it was a fail - the intercooler is about 20mm longer between the mounting points that the stock RS2 IC.

So reading Carsten's original thread it looks that there was once two different variants, and I must have an S2 one

Is it worth fitting it at ~400hp? I'm thinking yes, must be worth 5-10hp at the top end with the extra cooling capacity, but I didn't want to butcher the RS2 cross-member. Has anyone come up with a novel way of fitting it - can't see how there's space to make any kind of mount without modifying the cross member.

It's annoying - I thought pulley clearance would be the issue - but there's plenty of room. Not sure whether to refit the stock IC and flog it, or go through the hassle of trying to brace it. I guess I could always get another one down the line with the correct fitment.

It's designed to be fitted with the supplied bracket to an S2 xm. I made the same mistake. S2 xm is only 75 delivered nowadays and complete RS2 xm and ic is worth quite a bit.

I must admit I did chuckle at the "perfect fit" claimed in the advert in last months ppcmag with the rs2 feature.

      Bold claim.

to be fair nothing is a perfect fit to a 20 odd year old car.

in my experience there is no closer to perfect fit than carstens stuff. and it works.

id say stock cooler can do 400hp. itll be safer with a wagner though.

With a bit of improvisation I got this fitted - had to flare the exit of the crossmember's internal pipe so i could shift it along and take up the slack. It was very tight but it is on the car, with the 'Mark H' mod it is touching the bumper on the offside but it just fits.

There was no problem sliding the Samco onto the IC inlet either, it was tight but nothing a bit of lube couldn't sort out.
