    2.5 TDI water pumps??

So as not to muddy the discussion about the RS2 pump in another thread.........

Anyone one using one on a 20v engine?

Wow. That is only 18 teeth vs RS2 at 26 and AAN/ABY at 29 teeth.

I had a 26teeth pump on mine and it had PN 074 121 019C . This is not the original number I think but a pump from. VW with 2,5tdi. For all I know it could be just the housing that has this number stho ^^

Last time I checked online, I'm sure that the timing belt pulley on the 2.5tdi's also have less teeth by a few. The keyway on my 2.5tdi ACV crankshaft had to be modded to fit the standard s2 timing pulley on.

I thought the Tdi ones had a 20 tooth pulley! Of course there might be other variants for VW commercial vehicles. I have an aftermarket Tdi one here and that has a 20 tooth pulley.
The confusion arises due to the 074 number on the casting. I guess Audi use the exchange castings as a basis for the remanufacturing process. It would be interesting to know about the other side, the actual vane part differences if any. If its possible to press off the pulley then all we need is some enterprising Forum memeber to manufacture the pulleys whether ABY/ADU and that might solve another potential supply issue in the future!

Correct, the 074 number is what is on the casting so it is a little confusing.

The 074 number is also on the Volvo V70 tdi part.....along with the 4 rings.

Yeh. A few. 122 for the AEL 074109119R toothed belt vs 151 for the AAN (or ABY) 054109119H toothed belt (RS2 is 150 teeth).

Could this be useful when building a tall block stroker engine?

The belt on the TDI is wider....

I don't think its advisable to run a pump with any fewer teeth than the RS2 one, it think it would overspeed and cavitate at higher rpm.
The diesel ones have less teeth to aid flow as they don't rev very high.

I agree with Error404. Cavitation car wreak havoc on castings and cause serious problems elsewhere.
Is it known that the impeller of an RS2 pump has the same pitch, width and flow profile characteristics of a standard ABY/AAN water pump, notwithstanding the smaller driven pulley?
