audi s2/rs2 vs urs4 oil cooler

    Hi!

i wonder what are differences beetween audi s2(aby)/rs2 and audi 100 s4 oil cooler? Part numbers are not the same. Is it possible to use urs4 oil cooler on audi s2 aby without any modification ?

    Thanks

I pulled my bumper recently and noticed oil cooler totally blocked with crud preventing any airflow. Suspect most end up like this so well worth cleaning it every once in a while. Am sure you can get alternatives to fit but it's the air cowling efficiency and location that is most important to get right.

according to local VAG it costed 320€. I found alternative on ebay.de (sorry for long link )

according to seller it is original only without audi logo. Has anyone tested one of those ?

Cant comment on the above link, but i expect it would be fine. Its hardly worth spending OEM prices for the audi part.

Unless you a religiously trying to stay OEM, i would recommend this as a budget but more efficient alternative:

It obviously relies on the AUX radiator being removed, but this has been done by many forum member with no ill effects.

just my 2p hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction.

The shape of the two are very similar.....maybe even the same, but the tanks are different. On the S2 (ABY)/RS2 cooler the inlet and outlet are both facing the same side. The S4/S6 oil cooler has the inlet facing the front and the outlet facing the rear. You could possibly use an S4/S6 cooler on an S2, but it would require custom lines. It would be easier to just but the S2 part.

              You're welcome.

Post a picture of the ebay one. I was looking at those also. Most auctions state that the cooler for sale is produced by the O.E. manufacturer. I'm curious.

according to seller they are made by "Modine" or "Längerer & Reich", so no China stuff
i just need to double check dimensions. it could be also ordered directly from seler home page....
