    UrS6 Fuel Line - Queries

    1. Are urS6 fuel lines underneath the car still available ?

    2. Is it better to make replacement ones in metal ?

    3. Is it better to cut plastic sections of fuel lines from a later car in a breakers yard and use them ?

    4. If you cut out the affected sections, how do you connect the new sections of pipe ?

    5. Any BTDT links, photos, or experiences ?

    6. Any replies could also apply to B4s ?

Could be a sticky if the replies keep to the point.

    Thanks.

If you also need new fuel hoses then buy the good stuff in the first place.
I have experienced that not all "fuel hoses" is good - I had one (at the fuel filter) that slowly where dissolved by the fuel and after 3 years it failed (yes, it was new when I put it on).

These are examples of the good stuff that will last long:
SAE J30R9, DIN 73379-3D, DIN 73379-4D (these ones has flouro-rubber on the inside, and the outside can be made of different materials and therefore they are not suitable for in-tank use)

In-tank hose for the fuel pump:
SAE J30R10 (the elastomer is usually made of 100% Viton)

The manufacturers if these good fuel hoses is e.g. Gates, Goodyear, Contitech, Codan Rubber

Ive used cunifer to do a few c4s in the last couple of years,£35 for a reel of 7.5m.Nice and easy to work with, the flared connections at the bottom of the bulkhead are the hardest part i found, ended up using a brake line flaring tool for a truck which matched. While you are down there might be an idea to replace the rubber hoses that go from the back wheel area to the top of the tank.

David, I have a nice set, complete off a rust free Georgia S4. Shipping would be a little expensive. If you're interested let me know.
