    Loose plug.

Razzing down a dual carriageway yesterday and started getting the dreaded misfire under high boost in 4th,5th and 6th. *****!! Got home and pulled the coil pack cover off for a look to find a part number for a replacement coil. Thought I'd check the plug colour to see if any were different and stood out as the misfiring cylinder. 1-4 were fine but when I went to loosen 5 it was already loose, unscrewed it by hand and it was much cleaner/whiter (is that a word?) than the others. Put all the plugs back in and swapped 1 and 5 just to confirm it wasn't a faulty plug. Torqued them all up and went for spin, no more misfire.

I think I'll be checking my plugs on a more regular basis, just to make sure they are not loosening off. If I had left it for any length of time it would have blown out for sure and been a much more expensive outcome.

Also tried a K&N cone filter, what a racket. Standard air box going back in today. If anything it felt slower, and I'd done all the heat shielding bit.
I'll stick to my K&N panel in the airbox.

Apparently the loosening off thing can be an issue, this is what caused Doug's nightmare last year and what speeded up his power race as it was all taken apart to repair the head etc.

Overtightened plugs are also a problem!

Im checking mine over the weekend, prob give them a quick clean up if necessary, altho hopefully not. Car runs fine so touch wood will stay that way!
