    Audi S6 C4 revamp - ECU questions

    Hi guys,

    I have just bought an Audi S6

    I have a K reg URS4 spares car, that had a chipped ECU (unsure of what chip or BHP) and the cars been sitting outside for a couple of years, I was thinking to swap the ECU into the S6, but basically I want to know if;
    1. It will work?
    2. It's damp or water damaged could it damage / fry anything in the S6?

    A little lowdown on the car;
    Last night I installed new discs and pads on the front, waiting for new discs and pads for the rear along with both handbrake cables.

    I've put Koni yellow shocks in the Front along with Cobra -30mm lowering springs, the rear will recieve the same treatment once the brake parts come.

    I have a set of RS4 replicas with new tyres that I'm gonna bung on, they're a bit scuffed an that but the car isn't mint anyway so hey-ho!

    I have carbon dash trim that I'm gonna install and the interior is in need of a bloody good clean.

    As I've mentioned in another thread it needs both front wings....common problem with these I'll sort that though.

    It also needs an exhaust.....I've enquired about a stainless one but haven't heard back yet.....any help or ideas much appreciated!

    Pics to follow...

    Cheers
    Leigh

    Ecu will work fine in the s6 (unless its ****ed)

    Down side is you will lose the immobiliser

    Might be worth putting the ecu above a radiator for a day or so if you think it may be moist, I cant see much else being damaged myself.the engine ecu is by far the most delicate item

      Cool thanks for quick reply!

      I mean if it's knackered, it's knackered.......I just didn't want to fry anything else trying it out.

        Not having an immobiliser is a problem....will it affect anything else?

          Me again, good to see you are resurrecting the car!

          I have an exhaust as well BTW But it is a 4" stainless monster! Not sure if you are into that sort of thing, not for me, but will be selling that soon too. Only trouble is it has no CATS, but maybe there is a solution,

          It isn't too loud though, but quite sporty1

            I am interested actually!

            Do you think it would be possible to cut out a section of exhaust and fit the cats?

                I would have thought so, I will be taking it off the car soon, just waiting to hear the final problems with my S6 before I break the S4...

                      Anyone know where the best / cheapest place to get handbrake cables for the S6 is?

                        Oh on subject;
                        I opened the ECU cover and dried it out (not that it looked wet), I plugged it in and..............it RUNS!

                        It does seem to boost up quicker, how much difference it makes though I don't know, I would need to do some runs and compare the two.

                        Next Job;
                        I need to swap over the heater controls - they're stuck on blowing full at low temp! That job is a PITA, removing all that trim

                          There is a guide on here somewhere on how to do it with out taking so much stuff apart... Still a reasonable job though.

                          Re the parts we talked about, I have had two offers for my S4 complete, but I am still waiting on my S6 problem to be identified before I jump one way or another, but will let you know soon,
