As the above i will probably be having this done early next year, i`ve got a list (see below) of things i think i need can anybody suggest anything else why its being done and best places to locate said parts this is an old list off dougs thread so part numbers could have changed its for an ABY

Crank belt timing pulley, either a new audi one, about £35 iirc, or a billet steel one for £90, that should last forever.

The stock pulleys are known to break with catastrophic results.

Other random thoughts;

Valve stem seals
check valve guides for wear

There is a plastic coolant flange on the back of the engine that is liable to break if you pull the hose off it, might be worth having a spare to hand in case you disturb it. You can get a new plastic audi one, a steel one from a 7A (could be corroded), or Rusty does an aluminium replacement one.

Are you taking the manifolds off the head?

If so, exhaust manifold studs/nuts as required. Also an easy time to change the injector seats (can cause boost leaks)

Probably also an easy time to replace all the vacuum hoses.

Clean your PCV system.

Head gasket kit:water rail gaskets,cam cover gaskets,im and em gaskets,valve seals,head gasket,tb gasket(no need to change,you do'nt remove tb),colant sensors shims.No need to buy rs2 head gasket.Any decent(victor reintz,ajusa)head gasket kit will have a metal head gasket.Agree with andy10v about rear colant plastic flange,and very important crank sproket.Also the injector seats...Andy,you realy work on theese engines or you read the forum alot?

No, just fun/hobby/fix my car. My dad has been doing it for a while though, he had a crank pulley fail on his 100s4 in the 90s.

The Reinz 20v complete head gasket set contains most of what you need gasket wise.

MLS headgasket
Inlet manifold gasket
Exhaust manifold gasket
Throttle body gasket
Water rail seals
Cam lip seal
Cam cover seal
VSOS

You can get some nice wastegate flexi gaskets off Rusty.

And dont forget to get yourself some nice new exhaust manifold studs and copper nuts... and some nice new water manifold bolts... and some nice new nuts and bolts for the turbo and wastegate and flexi.... and the rocker cover allen key ones....

Got lots of those bits from All Parts but make sure you take an old one of each item with you to match up to....

Hi Andy went to have exhaust done on monday got a phone call in the afternoon blokes welders packed in have to wait till 14th nov now
