Hi Quick question, what is the official oil required for S6 2.2 turbo (in UK)? Halfrauds reckon it is 5W/30 is this right? I just want to put the official oil in, it uses some oil in use, so do I need semi or full synthetic (if at all)
Cheers Richard
The manual for the 95 UrS6 suggests the following:
For air temps from -30C to +40C
Sythetics: 5W30, 5W40, 10W30, and 10W40
Dino: 5W50, 10W50, 10W60
For air temps between +15C and -30C
Dino: 5W30 and 5W40
For air temps between +15C and -17.5C
Dino: 10W30 and 10W40
For air temps between -15C and 40C (and more)
Dino: 15W/40, 15W50, 20W40 and 20W/50
Here in Vancouver, British Columbia Canada, where -10C is very cold (and thankfully rare), I run 20W/50 year round.

Not sure what your question is. The AAN has an oil cooler to help protect the engine and turbo from heat-damaged oil.

Hi
Just referring to Macs reference re oil cooler, is he emptying the oil cooler (of oil) when doing an oil change or something to maximise the amount of oil changed in a similar way to the filter?

Yes, only changed the oil on the two urS6 a few times due to their infrequent use in my ownership, so can't quite remember their set up, but on the S2, I always open one of the pipes at the oil cooler itself to let out that bit of old oil resting inside the oil cooler to get out as much of the old oil as possible, so there is less old oil mixing with the fresh oil.
