When you are pressure testing the system, do you need to block the pipe which comes fom the intercooler into the metal pipe? I've made a tester but I'm guessing that I would loose the pressure straight away through the throtle body if I didn't block the system somewhere like just before it goes into the metal intake pipe.
Yep the testers i use block that pipe, then also block the breather line from the cam cover to the intake pipe (Before the Turbo or this pressurises the whole engine) and a bung for the pipe just after the MAF with a tyre valve in it. Other bungs which can be made for the return line from the bypass valve so you can see the bypass valve work at its factory setting, and one for the pipe before it goes into the intercooler just to eliminate the immediate system after the turbo and the turbo itself.
Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.--:Albert Einstein
Cheers Greham. I might have to invest in one of Lee's kits. I've made a really good valve part but I would think Lee's kit will include all the bungs necessary. I'm going to buy a boost gauge tomorrow. Do you know Triple Six in Middlesbro? I've phoned them and they have a couple to choose from. Are they any good?
Standard engines do not have overlap cams (intake and exhaust valves are not simultaneously open) so the air does not go further than cylinders. It does go past the TB but so what? No blocking required.
