    Sump gasket question

Where, if at all should I apply RTV sealant to this new OEM sump gasket?

No RTV is needed. The blue line is the sealant.

Just clean metal face with brake cleaner and strate on.

if you use some sealant.. have not a silicon type... but some other( sometime you may reuse an old one).. apply from the boltholes and out... not have sealant on the hole surface, it will clock the mesh to the oilpump...

Pretty sure you should have 3 pieces to your sump gasket two card one metal, the metal bit should be sandwiched between the card pieces. That's how mine was annyhoo changed it few months back, didn't need gasket sealer as mentioned the blue strip does that job

Yes sorry lads from the T4 should have said.

The gasket that came off it had no blue line i.e. non genuine. I think its been replaced in the past as a wrong diagnosis but was leaking recently.

Hopefully this OEM gasket and oil pump gasket will stop it marking it's territory, They are the last 2 seals to be changed so fingers crossed.
