    Get down Shep.

The Audi part number is 034 919 369 C. This if for the 3 pin MFTS that replaces the early 4 pin type.

They retail @ £66.59 + VAT. I can sort you out some 'forum friendly' discount and see what it comes to if you like. PM me to remind me and I'll let you know tomorrow.

I just bought one for my 200q20v. I searched online everywhere trying to beat the pretty good $45 price I found, but many places were out of stock on it. I got one off Ebay for like $33.85 shipped.

What is the function of this sensor, and what does it cause if it fails.

The way I understand it is that the MFTS senses the temperature of the coolant and when this reaches a certain temperature it will bring up the flashing temperature of the dashboard, also this sesnor sends a pulse to the ecu and could limit the boost as well. Tell tell sign for mine was that engine temperature was fine and the warning lights came on the dash board, i stopped the car checked coolant, it was fine. checked fan on radiator to see if this came on, tested this by keeping he car at 2500 rpm til temp guage hit 90 and bang it came on so everything was working the way it should be except for the warning temp light keeping coming on

Yes, it controls the water temp gauge and also the overheat signal to limit boost and flash the warning light. I don't believe the boost limiting and warning light signals are different, I think they are the same signal.

Actually right now I've got mine unplugged as it began giving a false overheat signal, one of the failure modes for the "multi-malfunction temperature sensor". I think I'm getting stock boost levels instead of the reduced amounts that I noticed occasionally, and then when the flashing overheat light started coming on regularly.

My MFTS is on its way still, because the Ebay seller mistakenly sent me a bunch of VR6 oil filters that were supposed to go to another buyer!

Yes, I'm in Arizona and I bought it from Michigan. Yesterday I got the MFTS from the other buyer! The auction referenced in this thread is the same seller, fap99.
