    Lumpy engine

On the drive to work this morning I got a couple of flat spots and it eventually turned into lumpy engine running. By the time I got to work it was very lumpy indeed but seems to disappear after about 3,000rpm.

Does anybody have any ideas what could be causing it? I'm hoping it's not something too expensive right before Christmas

    Thanks

I couldn't tell, I spent 5 minutes pretending to know what I was looking for at lunch then gave up

Thanks for the pointers though, I had people suggesting the same on my thread here

Don't rule out battery dieing on you, especially at this time of year. I have had identical symptoms with other cars engine wouldn't run right for a few weeks before it manifested itself as an obvious starting issue.

I'll bear that in mind thanks It's in for a comprehensive service at the moment. If this issue comes back I'll consider the battery

            MAF Connector loose / dirty?

I had lumpy idle, stalling at junctions and general low rev issues but ran fine when approx 2000rpm+.

Cleaned the connector and hey presto.

MAF was what I was thinking a few weeks ago when I got the odd flat spot. We'll see how it goes now I've got it back from it's extensive service
