    Turbo charging the 7a.

Hi all, got a spare 7a sitting around complete with ecu and loom, which has got me thinking. Has anyone used the std ecu etc after fitting a turbo and lowering the compression?

Thanks for the link. Would the std ecu without any mods run a turbo engine or would it go into limp mode?

Or buy a set of 82.5mm or 83.0mm Turbo pistons for the 7A and run just as much boost as any other 20v turbo

You guys are harsh It's not totally a lost cause, I enjoyed my stage 0.5 (beta version of the stage 1 kit w/o IC and stock CR) 7aT with ~180whp as an upgrade from the stock 7a. Since I've built my own 7aT with VEMS, H1C/Hx35, Iroz intake, 034 external WG EM, FMIC, but still stock compression and it's held up to ~15psi on a daily basis with a base/street tune. Clearly, it's no 3B/AAN/ABY/ADU with rods but it does the job. Since I started the project I've acquired an AAN bottom end so I may decide to put rods in that but I am also tempted to save for a new 07k I5.

I have thought about running a 7a with 3b manifolds, turbo, and ECU on a 7a. I don't think it's asking for instant death.

Thanks for the info. Not looking for mega horsepower as this engine will be for my South African VW T25 Caravelle Transporter, which comes as standard with the 5 cyl 2.5i 10v. Just love the smooth revable power of the 20v, only problem with the 7a is the lack of torque below 4000 rpm hence the turbo idea. could go 2.3 or 2.5?
