Quick question - afterrun pump block off?

So is there any need to save the water route if you throw away the afterrun pump, or can you just block it off? I don't see any reason to save the route.

I don't run one. And there is no pipes to connect it to either so it can just be blocked off.

You can block it of but I just used a 90 degree bend to join the 2 pipes together

I used the hard water pipe that runs along the block from a KV engine that has no t to the after run pump. And as a temporary measure just blocked the top hose until I get a new silicone top hose made.

Just remember to let you car cool a little before switching it off after a spirited drive.

I bet if you did a poll asking if you have ever heard your after-run system working as it should the majority would say no.

In my after-run pump info post that you got that diagram from, I have a photo of a by-pass that can be used when/if you have a failed after-run pump and still need to use your vehicle. The purpose of the after-run pump (and fan) is too prevent coking issues with the turbo after a hot run.

Further to that, even if you hear it running, either when it's got hot, or you hot wire the pump to test it, doesn't mean its pumping as it's a magnetically coupled motor impeller job and I have had two that had seized impellers but the motor still runs making you think its pumping when it's not.

Just grab hold of one of the pipes, you can feel the coolant being pumped around if it's working.

Even better and "colder" you can watch the expansion tank top return hose and you can see coolant running.....

Thanks. So the impeller has magnets in it and the motor is driving some other magnets that in turn (pun) turn the impeller magnets. Got it. Now WHAT THE H3LL are those metal filings??
