Today i received my new RS2 maf. I've tested it to my car, and it started to run rich (as expected)
So I think I've figured it out, and is about to mount it to my 4" pipe. But is there any hidden screws on the original maf? I supose i havet to chop it out of the plastic pipe?

Not sure what info you need but these photos by Saltinot from his RS2 America thread show the OE mounting of the RS2 MAF

Have been out and tested the car with the new MAF .. But guess what, it is still the same.
Now I'm totally blank ..
*
I tried installing the original MAF (rs2) with small pipe, and it reacts instantly on AFR gauge just a little touch up on the throttle and getting very rich. (12.8 afr slow driving uphill) and the check engine light came on. Lambda fault in vagcom
And (10afr when building up boost) was only building aprox 0.5bar this time. That it would run rich was just as expected Because the diameter of the MAF pipe is much smaller.
I have tried both sensors in the small pipe now, and it is running rich with both
But when i use the big pipe, with the new sensor in, the air fuel ratio will not go below 14 it turns more up to 15 Running lean ..
Mabye my FPR is punctured?
What could possible have happened with my car?
Its cos of the bigger pipe - right from the first post in this thread I was wondering who tuned it on such a configuration requires a lot of knowledge to correctly adjust in the ECU software for this. The only man I know who properly understands this area is Dmitri - 'pro' - what he doesn't know about this stuff isn't worth knowing !
You will have to decide whether to get someone like prj to tune it properly or figure out a bodge with increasing fuel pressure so you don't lean out on deep throttle inputs.
Seeing that several of you have no faith in my setup or tuner who has made it .
This is not a backyard company who only selects parts that might fit together .
I agree that MAF is no longer optimal if you want durability and more power , and i has been recommended by my tuner to mount a new plug and play software and then go to the dyno. It is not he who has chosen FRP model .. Only my self to blame . A friend of mine has a BEGI FPR that is new, so i am gonna borrow it and check if there is any different. http://www.bellengineering.net/produ...?products_id=4
Now I just want it to work and as it has done previously . The car went very well. Now it seems like I'll have to save up, so I can buy Vems etc.
My nearest tuner is aprox 900km away from here . So it is a long drive
Some specs:
Rs2 bottom balanced and honet . JE pistons , Eagle connecting rods
Race ported cylinder head with double springs and titanium retainers . + + + +
This is not a formula1 car , i know that .. But it is real fun driving = )
In attatch a video from the tuner that has put together my parts . I do not know the setup on this car . but is an L5
1100hp + / -

Is this right?: The OE MAF hot wire is calibrated to measure a certain portion of the airflow. Between the MAF and the ECU, the two of them know how to factor that up to the entire flow diameter of the OE MAF, not just the little flow circle that is actually measured. Then *somebody* in their "wisdom" takes that same MAF and installs it in a 4 inch plastic pipe. The ECU doesn't know that its not in the OE pipe and factors the MAF reading up to the OE equivalent diameter and supplies fuel for that situation, based on the "measured" airflow. In fact because the airflow is a larger tube and therefore the flow is actually more by a factor of (D2/D1)^2. On this basis, the flow supplied by the ECU would be too low because it expects a lower airflow.
For arguements sake, let's say the OE diameter is 75 mm and the modified MAF is 100 mm diameter, the flow would be 77.78% higher than the ECU thought (1.33^2 = 1.7778). Fuel would be correspondingly too low. This would alter the intended Air/Fuel ratio. IF the ECU was supplying fuel for a A/F of 12, the resulting actual A/F would be much higher because the airflow is actually 77.78% higher for a given MAF reading (in this example).

I don't know if you have read this thread UrS4boy?

I'd agree with this, basic first principles stuff.
