    Worst cracks are between valves.

If you don't have other option you can continue using this head

But I'd buy a crack free one

Realistically you'd be hard pushed to get crack free now. If going to do porting work. Machine seats out weld the cracks up. Fit new seats re tap spark plug hole.

The factory comments about these cracks is on page C 15-1, of Volume 1 of the three volume Bentley hard copy C4 manual set, regarding cracks around the spark plug threads, and they say:

"Cylinder heads with cracks between the valve seats or between the valve seat and spark plug threads may be reused without reducing service life, provided cracks do not exceed 0.5 mm (0.020 in) width or when no more than the first threads are cracked".

The size of the crack looks close to being too big but yet it probably is okay. From the photos, I can't see how far the crack goes up but it doesn't look very far, maybe only the first thread.

As others have said, you could reuse the head with some work, but you might want to try to find one that is not as cracked.

I posted some of your photos on my home forum to get some more input. You might want to go through the replies, especially the ones about cleaning the head (looks like you've started already):

The deposits on the valves is from burned oil as opposed to running too rich showing lazy rings. If the deposits are on the back of the valves you'd also need to look at replacing guides.

My 1st plan when i removed the head(before i saw the crank's) was to change guids and all seals, complet polishing head and porting, but now i am not sure what to do honestly, never had problem like this on any car
What u think abouth going on 7A converted head?
Or i can run this head w/o problems?

You're done. Cracks have propagated too far up into the spark plug threads to waste money on refurbishing and/or porting and polishing it. 7A heads are likely crack free but require significan machining to open up the water manifold passages on the intake side. AND you have to add a cam sensor boss on the front of the head.

In my opinion just about every head is cracked and you will never know! It was the same with Golf G60 and Polo G40 heads they would all crack. The original issue wasn't the cracked head it was the head gasket so I would just use it as it is.

Scenario - what would the issues be caused by the cracks? If we assume this is going to be lightly upgraded engine power wise? But, I wouldn't put lot's of money on that head, new valve stem seals, diy valve lapping and resurfacing should give you a usable head for medium power.

Thuppo, you must have one of the last AX GT's in existence ha ha. I run a ZX Volcane as my daily driver and it is hilariously good ha ha. It makes me smile just thinking about it. All my friends mock me but it refuses to die so I refuse to replace it. Long live the Citroen.

Ha ha, tell me about it! My friend from work gave it to me for free. Really cheap to drive, you can drive several weeks with a 20e fill. Something that feels strange after the bimmer...

BTW Majorcina, what did you do with the "crack free" head you tried to sell me some time ago?
