7a sump question

7a sumps are fitted with plastic baffel plates [that weigh 240 gr] , do the 7a still have the big metal oil splash plate as fitted to aby/adu or just a plain cork sump gasket

7As don't have the windage tray of the 20vt engines, but they share the same sump gasket.
You can fit the 7A plastic baffle and 20vt windage tray together

I put one in my sump along the windage tray as they werent crazy expensive. Used in Sport Quattro and UrQuattro RR engines and 200 Quattro early 3B too.

im trying to save weight everwere aby s2 sump weight 5.6kg ,windege metal tray 640grm = 6.240kg total. standard aan 4.6kg , standard 7a 5.8kg . my thoughts are to use the aan but fitted with plastic baffles 240grm from 7a with no widedge tray = 4.840kg total saving 1.4kg apprx 20% saving . but i wont do this mod if its risky with out metal windege tray. my crank has been knife edged so I presume the oil falls off it easly . my other option is a passat steel sump 2.8kg , 3.5kg with alloy bracket these come with to bolt sump to gearbox . but we would need to make some baffles so this sump would prob end up weighing 3.8kg without a metal windedge tray so 3.8kg total almost 40% saving . do the 3b and RR engine use a windage tray or are they same as 7a ?

Are these fitted with the metal oil splash tray that the ABYs have fitted or are they same set up as 7A

3B had the steel windage tray. Not sure about the RR.

the steel sump from the olde engine does fit.., easyier to mod if you need
