    Fuel line replacement

Not on the S2, but my Mk2 Cirocco GTX Turbo 1984.

I'm replacing the fuel pump and lift pump, the metal fuel lines look in pretty bad shape for the full length of the car.

What are peoples thoughts on the easiest method to renew? I've got a fair amount of tools and a garage, no ramp unfortunately.

    Cheers

On a previous injected car I went to a breakers and cut a couple of lengths of plastic fuel pipe from a modern car. When fitting you don't even have to disturb the original mounting points(cut of the old metal pipes and pull through then thread the new plastic stuff in).
I used this (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Petrol-Cli...item3efaf50ad0) type of hose clip when joining to the rubber hoses.
I'm not saying the above is the best method but it's quick, easy, very cheep and worked for me.

most S2s are of an age that this is a problem, yes mine too patched is with some fuel hose, but will have to replace it completely soon

what are the options? the full replacement is NLA of course, so manufacturing is the way. what materials? coated copper/brass? stainless steel? plastic?

and does anyone have the spec of the connectors at both ends of the 3 lines?

        Hi Trist,

How's it going, hope you're keeping well.

        Try this ABY Coupe thread.

Worth a read through in it's own right, but fuel lines are covered on page 2.

This second thread re the ABY Avant is much longer, and will either cause you to despair or re-inspire you.

        Kind regards.

you may use copper , they do stand for the rust, and stand for the pressure...8 or 10mm... or 12 for high power aplication...

Use cuprinichol solid stuff. Works a treat. Theres a thread on here somewherre about replacing avant fuel lines... same theory with the pressure unions and solid line for the use on the Scirocco.
