Hydraulic lifters, where to buy new?

Got at least one lifter that's going bad, it was just tapping for a few seconds occasionally on start up but now when idling it seems to come and go as it please's regardless of engine temps. It always shuts up within seconds if I keep the rev's above 3K so I'm sure it's a lifter as opposed to anything else in the valve train.

Anyway I remember reading about there being two different variants of the OE lifter, one lighter than the other, which one's are considered the better option and where's the best place to source them?

If it was a customers car I'd just order them from my local factors or TPS depending on their budget but as it's my own car and I need 20 of them I want the best quality and price. Figured if I'm going to do one I may as well change the lot, they've done a 100K miles and are 20 years old

Don't buy the light ones. They collapse easily. Normal weight INA lifters seems to be good.

Cheers chaps, looks like the INA one's are available on eBay for a good price as their the same as many other VAG applications, I'll get 2 sets for a 10 valve Transporter as I couldn't see a set of 20.

Didn't know that. I have the lightweight I think bought from Norway the last time. Can't say I have seen any issues so far..

                          Yep

Pretty much all VAG engines from this era use the same lifters.

I'll guess it's more like a problem in a high revving engine with high lift cams and stiffer springs.
