    ABY Timing Belt Renewal

Appologies if this exists somewhere else.

A lot of the posts on here about timing belts are quite old. Just rung Audi and they no longer support timing belts for ABY engines.

Euro don't list a kit, but do list a belt. What belts and kits have people been using?

Get one from Pete @ Quattro corner, he should be able to help you out with everything such as water pump and seal, idler pulley, cam sprocket etc etc

He is Pete Reeve on here, he has everything you need

Might be worth checking what else you may need from him as he stocks a wide range of OEM parts and will be able to help you out with most items, can't imagine post should be too expensive

Hope to hear more from you regarding problems, issues with your car and anything you plan on improving as there's lots of helpful people on here and tips and things you can do to your S2 to make it just the way you want it

You have to picture my S2 as a rescue car. It was loved once, but since has been neglected.

First objectives are to do some mechanicals. So timing belt and service as nearly 60k and 7 years since belt was done, at least thats the reciept I found. No record of service recently either so some fresh oil. I found a reciept for a K&N panel so need to crack the airbox open before ordering a new air filter.

I have some ideas for it. It will get a power boost in time but i'll get everything working on it first.

Have fun guys, sounds like your DIY. Allow plenty of time cos I reckon you'll do a lot of other jobs on the way. I remember getting a quote for cam belt replacement from an old guy at a garage that I trusted very much. It was a very competitive quote. But in the end I wanted to DIY it too. OMG just removing the front bumper took ages cos of rusted bolts spinning etc. I thought jeezz he would have lost money on this quote cos bumper is a pig. Even so I really enjoyed doing it and got many other jobs done in the process. It's easier with the whole front of car naked. I did have to buy a 3/4 breaker bar and use a 6ft section of scaffold to loosen crank bolt. Think I've still got the locking tool in garage somewhere if you get stuck.

A locking tool would be helpful I did do the belt on my RS2 and remember it being a lengthy job to get the front end off then very easy to access everything.

TPS said they can't get the pulley so ordered all the parts from Quattro Corner. Next question the is torque figures, what does the bottom pulley go back up to?

                    Any PDF manuals out there?

What did you pay for all of the kit in particular the water pump and pulley.

£25 & £40 Seemed reasonable and given that they are not supplied by everyone getting them from a reliable source seemed like a good idea.

We'll that's a good price I paid £93.68 plus vat for the water pump and £2.98 for the o ring plus £89.47 plus vat for the pulley it also came to £ 76.06 for the belt and roller and £21.32 for the pulley bolt and that's with discount I've been robbed.
