I thought it would be obvious that if I am the guy who writes stuff like this C4 battery info post: http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/24489.phtml ,
it's not my car. (I have 2 C4s but neither of them is an S6plus).

Just posting it up so people realize that you really do need to watch battery height and keep a cover on the (+) battery post.

ive done this on my own a6 tdi,3 people were sat in the back at the time when flames started appearing

i cut all the metal mesh off the bottom after that as i was so paranoid of it happening again, even with the correct height battery on

It has also happened at least twice when people have been here with there c4s after they have put the back seat back down after having the battery disconnected

Pretty **** design by audi for sure,i think my s6 is the only c4 i have ever come across which had all the plastic covers intact

Ouch. Lucky the whole car didn't go up. Its amazing how fast this can actually happen with that many amps on hand. Was this your car?

This is why you should always make sure that a) the battery isn't taller than 6 5/8" (168 mm) and b) the positive post has a cover on it.
