Bit slow to start when semi-warm...

Got a small, irritating issue with the 7A, when I have driven the car up to temperature if I leave it for 3-4 hours, and go to start it, it takes a few more cranks to get it going, and when it DOES start it starts at a really low idle, all 5 cylinders I think, but really low. Then after a few seconds, the revs pick up and then idles at ~900 like it always has.

If I start it after a few minutes, when still hot, fires straight up, when cold, fires straight up.

Any ideas? I'm leaning to fuelling, possibly weak fuel pump? or heatsoak vapourising fuel in the rail?

I don't think it is electrical, but happy to be corrected

Will pull codes tomorrow morning, but last time I checked, and this is since the problem has manifested, there was only one, which was something to do with carbon canister, not connected, pretty sure that was me when I was messing about in the boot trying to sort the water leaks out.

    Cheers,

    Pete.

      Yeah, only just

01257 according to the book is idle valve, but... I was re-setting the idle the other day and had it unplugged (I know that is wrong, I did correct it ), so doubt this is the issue, but will monitor in a few days.

I suppose it is possible I have set the idle too low, but I think I was experiencing this before I played with this.

Good time to ditch those hitachi efforts and get some modern injectors (you need some adaptors aswell and bypass the resistor pack in scuttle panel area)

I had some in my last 90, well worth it

I agree, the Sh1tachi injectors are only fit for the bin. FWIW mine used to do this too, with a new 044 pump and carbon canister circuit removed. I think old injectors that were crap when new are a likely cause, not helped by heatsoak into the rail.

Yep, this is the replacement, refurbed Bosch injectors already... Hitachis went in the bin as my MPG pre-taking off the road was 20....
