    Greetings fellow adicts! Chips and Dip questions...

    Hi all:

    I just acquired a 1990 Coupe Quattro with the 7A tricked out with 3B goodies and an RS2 replica turbo. The car has an unmolested 3B ECU... but I have code! :-D

    Not sure about how much to mod. Given the 7A has 10.3:1 CR and the RS2 can make big boost the stock chip may be all I dare to use. I know one chip is a 27C256. Are they both the same? or is one a smaller 27C128 or 27C64? Are they both already socketed? The old MAC11 units were soldered in place and with the conformal coating a real mess to remove. I am new to these Audi models and like to be sure before I poke at things too much.

    So, for that matter, has anyone here done the RS2 on a 7A with the 3B goodies around here who can share some knowledge?

    Cheers and TIA;

      3B ecus are normally socketed from the factory, ABY/AAN/ADU normally not as far as I know. Easy enough to open the case and confirm though.

      You will need a new map sensor, normally 3 bar to run the rs2 turbo to its potential.

      I think you will be pushing your luck running an Rs2 turbo on a stock 7a though.

      You wont be able to use a stock RS2 chip set if that is what you are asking, as the RS2 was a coil on plug (like an AAN/ABY) rather than distributor setup, so different ecu.

      You would also need RS2 injectors, and whatever fpr the chipset calls for, though finding a 3B RS2 chipset for a high compression engine but low boost sounds challenging.

        Actually the 2 main questions there are:

        1) what are the chips required for the 3B. I want to keep the originals and play with a spare set with various code adjustments to actually lower the boost across the board so I avoid detonation and can stomp on the go pedal.

        2) If anyone has run a similar setup what did they end up doing to prevent detonation with the Turbocharged 7A

        My other car is a monstered 10VT running an RS2 Turbo in a rally livery Ur-Q. CIS was recently ditched in favour of a MS system so I can find the limit for the build. The CIS wasn't up to the task AFAIK. I have the RS2 injectors for it, come to think of it I think this 7A has the RS2 injectors as well.

          Your 10 valve build sounds interesting do you have a build thread for that car anywhere on the net?

          I'm running a full RS2 set up on a 3B with a stock ECU, well the turbo's an RS2/K26 hybrid, I found RS2 injectors with the 3B's 3 bar fuel reg give nice safe AFR's on boost and bang on 14.7 off it. That's using stock 3B software which with the original 3B items made it run a touch on the lean side especially on WOT. This is only a temporary arrangement, the car is going to live mapped fairly soon.

          As your motor has a fair bit extra compression you want to make sure you do have some bigger injectors than stock fitted, sounds like another interesting project.

            Hi Boxerfan. Welcome. I live north of Mtl, and have RS2 injectors if you need them.LMK.
