audi rs2 remap? general advice- new owner

any advice on getting audi rs2 remapped? and should i bother getting the turbo upgraded aswell? i have a turbo specialist with lots of experience with these turbos who can increase the compressor turbine and housing and install 360 bearing for a good price that will flow over 400hp.

also i noticed the oil pressure when hot at idle is around 1 bar, is this a bit low? soon as you touch the throttle it jumps right up to 4/5bar. it may just need an oil change, but thought i would ask.

the other small issue is that the car smokes a little on idle and when revving in neutral. the car had been stored for 3 years so i was advised it would be valve stem seals that have hardened. although i also hear of issues with breather setups? it does not smoke at all when driving the car/boosting etc as far as i can tell looking in the mirror. mileage is 120k.

any other advise for me with regards to anything i should check with an rs2 that has been in storage. the car drives fine, and did 400 mile trip to me today no issues.

couple of other things, one of the door mouldings at the bottom has peeled away from the door, and looks a bit tatty, the chap i bought it from said he struggled to find one? any ideas? same goes from one of the front bumper mesh panels to the side, one is tatty and wants replacing.

last thing for the minute, what parts are hard to source/find for these cars that might cause issues?

    many thanks
    nick

There are two forum members I can think of who should be able to supply generic chips: S2central and PRJ. PRJ might also be able to do a custom remap if he's back in the country.

The oil pressure sounds about right so nothing to worry about there.

A wanted ad might find you a door strip.

    Which RS2 did you buy?

Parts are becoming quite difficult for all these old cars but not impossible. Audi Tradition might help with some along with various cars that sometimes are broken for parts. German Ebay and wanted ads might work. Stealers will possibly have some items still but getting rare.

Reference modifications to an RS2. Keeping it entirely stock and mechanically sound will see the value most likely increase over the years. That said, it is not exactly impossible to reverse an updated turbo and chip etc, as long you keep the original parts so it could be returned to stock if you ever wanted to sell it for top money.

I would suggest if it's been sat give it a thorough going over replacing all consumables, ( fluids , filters, etc) then check for boost leaks. I'd put money on you have a few leaks from hardened / perished vacuum lines etc.
It really is the a Achilles heel with these cars regardless of wether it's modified or standard.

Contact PRJ on hear. He will do the job for you. He is a top man, but a little blunt. To be honest he is very blunt: hide: All joking aside he really knows his job And I found him very helpful.

How much does it usually cost. I have a friend who can do a full custom tune on the dyno so would prefer to do that than a generic chip.

Here's a good advice - keep it a genuine collectors item and make some money in a few years!

A generic chip is generally around £300, who's your friend who can custom re-map?

Really? out of curiousity who would that be as the ecu on these cars require a physical chip replacement and there are about 2 people I know of that could tune on a dyno with a real time simulator for an OEM ECU using an emulator.

I will post up details of the remap once he sends me details on monday. He works for a big company who do remaps on all kinds of exotic stuff. I asked him if he did remap for rs2 and he said they did loads back in the day and got 380/400hp with a custom tune on the rr. Will cobfirm details once I have spoken to him properly. Was a brief fb message

result doortrims are available. Any idea of cost. And can front grills be found? I need drivers side mesh grill.

                        Cheers

I bought a couple of rear door trims last April. The RRP on the trim is £150 on the driver and passenger door and £130 on the rear doors, you should be able to negotiate some discount on that. Just be careful with the clips, one of the end cap thingies is NLA.

You can get the bumper grills from Audi Tradition.
