    cambelt change rs2?

the cambelt was changed 3 years ago and only a couple of thousand miles ago. the car was sitting for a few years though. should I change it as Im worried it may of hardened slightly when the car was not being used?

how long a job to do the belt on rs2?

not had a chance to have a look, as I put car into storage on sat waiting to insure/tax it start of the month.

    many thanks

If you're concerned, then best to do it.

Not too long a job, as the front of the car comes off.

Replacement RS2 water pump is silly money but the belt is not too bad. It's different to normal ABY / ADU.

Get a billet lower crank gear from terrybullwon and replace the tensioner at the same time.

Make sure you follow the guide on here to get the timing sorted, as the marks are half a tooth out.

The silly price of the ADU water pump it's easy avoidable by using an ABY water pump and swap the pulleys have done it few times so far.
A good mechanic will do it in five mins.

I'm doing my belt service shortly and the price are stupidily different for teh water pumps
85 euros for the ABY vs 255 euros for the ADU and the body part impellers etc etc are exactly the same, the only difference it's the pulley.

probably just do it for piece of mind tbh. i would imagine the tensioner/rollers would have all been done 3 years ago and they wont have aged, its just the belt i will change most likely.

best place to source belt? and water pump if needed?

anything else worthwhile doing while its all apart?

        many thanks

Lower crank gear upgrade is a must.

Though an upgrade for peace of mind is no bad thing, is there any stats on how many OE pulleys which were changed with the last belt and torqued correctly have failed?

              It seems overly common here.

                where are these upgrades found?
one thing i noticed when the engine is running it looks like the crank pulley is running slightly off true?

Check them, people often spin/feel tensioners/pumps and just leave them.

Thermostat, easy time to get to it and its cheap.

Billet pulley from terrybullwon £90 versus £30ish for a stock one, 3X the price, but should be unbreakable and reusable.

There is a rubber ring in the crank pulley/damper that can perish/rotate round.
