    Locking tool...

So I have an ABY with aircon and PAS...

Ive google'd the hell out of how to get that bottom bolt back in. 2084 modified, 3256, 3256 modified. Im seeing this written everywhere!!!

I figure I now need a 3256 tool but finding one is proving impossible!!! Every thread in the world on this is years old and most links are dead.

I would pay someone to do this but as im in Cardiff and there doesn't seem to be anyone "in the know" on S2's locally, I would rather do it myself.

The bolt is already out as the garage I originally had to do the cambelt took the bolt out with an air gun as I was walking in to check progression, as I questioned why there was no locking tool used, the guy had a superiority freak out and I ended up towing my car out of there.

Someone please help me out with the correct locking tool and where I can buy it...

    Thanks guys!

    Alex

    Am I right in saying that the part numbered 3256 on this link;

Is this the one I need?

Crank Locking tool for an ABY/ADU Engine: You need to support this tool with a jack stand as it isn't really designed properly but will work.

You will need the counter hold tool for tightening, don't think you need the crank locking tool if you've already got the bolt off I believe..correct me if I'm wrong please

              Wouldn't the owner mind?

For the cost of postage I could lend you mine that does all 3B's, ABY, ADU' and AAN's, I've been thinking of making a batch of them up for around the £50 delivered mark.

This is the prototype so is a little rough but does the job just fine.

If you search for my cambelt change thread I have also detailed using the non air con locking tool with some studding to adapt it

Yeah, all you need is a 3/4 drive breaker bar, a 27 mm 3/4 socket and a torque wrench that goes up to 250NM, ideally you want a wrench the goes too 500 nm but their not common.

taking the bolt out with whatever doesnt matter...its the putting it back in ....dont use a windy gun to tighten it, it'll weaken /snap the key in the pulley....get one of Chef's pulleys too if you haven't already ...check the for sale thread

DIY like Will did with a notched 2" box and a pipe wrench, just brace off the ground, or an object placed on the ground.

I welded the rest of the box onto mine to lock on the snub mount, with a little modification it would work on an ABY aircon.
