    AAN engine woes...

    Hello folks..

After finally getting my AAN 20v Quattro legal on the road, the engine then decided to start knocking. Am going to take engine out tonight to see what the damage consists of. It's a road car basically, not a race car.

I have since posted a wanted ad on here looking a good crank as knowing my luck the crank is probably goosed.

Was wondering if someone could amswer the following queries as i'm new to the Audi scene

    1) if another AAN crank is hard to get then is it a success getting the crank reground if there is enough meat left on it.

    2) what other cranks fit the AAN engine other than an AAN crank ??

    3) who either in the UK or Europe can i buy the crank main / big end bearings, oil pump etc etc. Have been advised to go for RS2 crank bearings but was wondering if this is necessary

    Any help greatly appreciated

    Regards

Typically if an AAN is knocking seriously, it is a rod bearing, i.e. spun rod bearing. If this is relatively new, it is sometimes possible to get away without touching the crankshaft, just replacing the rod bearing(s).

The AAN Crankshaft, PN 034105101S, also is the 7A, AAR, 3B, ABY and ADU crankshaft, at least now it is, if you ever needed to swap/replace.
