    Turbo + Hose help

    Me again

Basically gonna be looking to squeeze some more grunt out of the old girl and have pretty much settled on banging a hybrid turbo in there, only problem is I'm new to this whole turbocharging malarky and have no idea what to go with!

Due to the nature of my day job I'm pretty confident in my ability to do the fitting but any wisdom and advice that can be passed on from you guys would be brill.

Bearing in mind the car is going from standard:

First off what turbo would you recomend and what sort of power gains are they suitable for and what can I expect from them? I'm noticing that K26/27 and K26/24 hyrbrids are mentioned a lot so if anyone can give me some pointers?

Also what other work will be needed alongside this, a remap will be happening obviously but in regards to other components like manifold, intercooler etc.

    So yeah... thanks in advance!

Also I'll be looking to replace the boost hoses as I can see a couple looking a bit chewed, Roose Motorsport on eBay have some for sale but if anyone knows of any recommended sites or anyone who can sell them on would be fantastic as I'd rather go somewhere that the forum recommends as opposed to the bay, might consider changing the lot to make it look a bit more presentable under the bonnet.

Infinite thanks to anyone who read the whole lot of crap I just posted :L

Roose are very good hoses, we did a group buy a while ago. If you call them direct, mention the forum and ask nicely Paul might do you a discount

Turbo wise there are many options, and countless threads on the forum about it so too much info there if anything. It would be useful to know what car you have, what you run currently and what you want to achieve, that way hopefully a few options can be presented to help you

Depending on what you want you will probably need to upgrade turbo, injectors, exhaust manifold and intercooler and map. Brakes are also essential, suspension refresh/upgrade highly recommended and so the slippery slope gives way beneath your feet.......

        Ah of course silly me!

I've got a black 3B coupe, which is standard, grubby but standard

Ideally I'd like to reach the 300-350 BHP mark, wouldn't want to push much past that if at all!

The brakes are going to be done as well but I feel fairly confident in sorting those out with help from a couple of good buddies

        and yeah, I'm already sliding

I also have a 3b. There are so many options and routes you could take but I can tell you what I have which is a K26 Hybrid turbo, 303bhp MTM chip, Miltek Turbo back exhaust and RS2 IC. Not sure exactly what the power is but I am guessing it is around stock RS2 power. In the coupe, it feels fairly quick and makes 99% of cars on the road look slow. It is laggy with boost not coming in until 3500rpm plus but it then pulls consistently ALL the way to the redline in every gear. 350bhp plus, you probably want a nicely mapped RS2 turbo with associated gubbins. This would get you closer to 370-380 I would think but the RS2 turbo is costly and hard to find but not impossible. There are loads of other varieties of turbos, maps and ancillary gubbins that would push you further and at some point not too far after this, you would need to rebuild engines to cope with increased power/torque. Read through plenty of projects on here to see what people opted for and what work was required.

I've just done RS2 spec with a wagner EM, IC, RS2 injectors and pump and an RS2 airbox once a couple of broken air guides were replaced

At RS2 spec, it is a totally different animal and as mentioned boost doesn't start to pickup until 3000-3500 rpm and the torque it provides is unbelievable, Chipped stock ABY felt so much slower it's ridiculous . Roose hoses are a very good fit except the MAF once was quite a tight fit but not impossible!

If you want more power on the 3B, I would probably ditch the so called rubbish 3B airbox first and go for an RS2 one, there is one currently for sale in the parts section. That would probably already make a big difference in throttle response and pickup, think it is a nice start, either that or an ABY one but RS2 is the better route

Getting around 350hp from a 3b is right easy- that´s a normal RS2 step. The main parts, that are needed, is RS2 turbo (KKK K24/7200), RS2 intercooler and tray, RS2 injectors and a RS2 exhaust manifold. Since RS2 is actually the same motor, all those parts will fit plug´n play. If you want little more top end power, take the RS2 camshafts, if you want to have torque a bit earlier in power band, take your stock 3b camshafts.

All that parts can be found in good uses condition. RS2 manifold is rare, here you could look for the Wagner exhaust manifiold- it´s for direct replacement, good quality, can do some more power in upper rpms, but I think boost should come a very little bit later.

Dowenpipe from RS2, an Exhaust in 2,75" should be installed.

Motor hardware (rods, pistons etc.) can stay stock. You have to remap the car. All the parts are good for about 400-420hp, except the Turbo- it´s compressor side chokes at 350-360hp.

Excellent, thank you so much everyone!

Think I've got some good ideas for what I should be looking at and I'm looking into project threads as we speak! Also got eBay in another tab as I mooch about for parts for this sucka!

                But again thanks everyone

Could always go for a 3071 if you fancy a bit of headroom on the power. 350bhp is pretty quick but you'll get used to it and then want more
