    Turbos from Germany

A recent trawl of fleabay revealed a few K26 and K27 turbos from Germany. Has anyone ever bought anything like this an if so how did you get on? Some of them are horrendously cheap and leave plenty of room for a rebuild in the budget, assuming the casings and turbines aren't damaged. Just piecing together ideas before the S2 get promoted to weekend 'run around'...

Andy, my personal experience with this is very bad. Out of 2 turbos that I've bought used and supposedly in a good condition, both of them had cracked hot side housing and excessive shaft play. One of them had a pic where it looked as new, the description said "used for 8 months"... of course I bought it, only to discover that it had been repainted for 8 months, and the pic was so good that I got dicked!!!

    Just my 0.02,

Thanks for the advice. With recent threads quoting IIR £700 for recon K26's it's never worth buying poorly described tat. Unfortunately the web is full of it.
