Here is a summary of opinions I recently gave macspring in answer to his question about FMICs:
Stock turbo, no chips = waste of time and money
Stock turbo and 3 Bar chip set = very marginal increase, not worth the money. Spend it on a good exhaust manifold instead.
RS2 turbo on AAN = not a bad idea, OE IC gets around heat soak on repetitive WOT cycles, e.g. tracking or "Spirited" driving on twisty country roads. FMIC will give improvements in that situation.
GT3071 and larger on AAN = really good idea
Statement: Around town with a RS2 Hybrid, it might be a good idea if the budget and time wasn't too tight.
Comment: Around town = very marginal improvement, even with the odd WOT. There won't be enough of them in close enough succession to cause heat soak in the OE SMIC.
If you did decide to add a FMIC, the core can't be thicker than 2.5" because of the minimal room behind your "Euro bumper" (as opposed to the NAmerican front UrS bumpers). This link provides a DIY guide for you, should you need it:
Here you go ! But if I where to do that I should have made my own tanks that are tilted or rounded to suit the front bumper, don´t like that install so much, looks a little tacky in my eyes...

a buddy of mine uses a hx35 with stock internals of engine and clutch, only different is rs2 exhaust manifold, 3" exhaust, bigger fuel injectorsk, a wallbro fuelpump and VEMS... his boost is 2 bar and with stock intercooler... and that car is quite fast... just for an example... but of course with a good intercooler you take away some stress...

No idea really but should be in the range of 375-400 I guess, don´t remember what housing he used... I´m going with a K26/27 turbo and it will be in the same range I guess... also use VEMS , but this winter it was chassie and brake time, I hope it will be done this summer, are on sick leave as I broke my back a little
