    S8 4.2 into a C4q to make a RHD urS6+ ?

Was just wondering what bits are needed to make a RHD C4 with a 4.2 engine from an S8 to end up with a RHD C4 urS6plus ?

Haven't got the time or the money, but am still very curious nonetheless.

Any information would be a good reference for the future.

A bit like a RHD RS2 Saloon. Well worth doing.

Which engine is heavier ? The S8 or the AAN ?

Which flywheel, clutch and gearbox to use with the S8 engine to make it a manual in the C4 ?

    Thanks.

I am answering your V8 engine question in the Autobox transmission thread here.

First of all, when it comes to the V8, I am a noob. I am learning. My sensei is Doug W. (islingtonaudi) on my home forum, quattroworld. Doug has just finished swapping in a V8 into his 1997 C4 A6 (formerly V6) quattro avant.

Doug developed a hybrid engine, using the ABH block which he knew (and now I know) was used in the C4 UrS4 1992-94. He used head from a later A8 4.2L ABZ V8.

This what Doug says about the AEC, ABH and AHK: "... the AEC engine used in the UrS6 also has distributors, almost identical to your ABH. The AHK in the S6Plus is the first C4 V8 to have coil-pack ignition. The AEC has more aggressive cams I believe and different pistons, a few other tweeks but as far as I can tell the two early V8s are about 90% the same....The goal is to replicate as much as possible the V8 found in the S6 Plus from 1996-97. This engine was the same engine found in the early S8s in Europe (think "Ronin" car) and mine will have a first-generation ABH block with later design A8 coil-pack heads/intake/fuel delivery/cladding. I've been asked by several people why I don't just use an existing ABZ engine from an A8 but that engine's block was never designed to fit in the C4 like the ABH and AEC blocks were. The engine mounts are in different locations. The oiling system in the ABZ needs to be relocated as well. This is why the S6 Plus used the early-style V8 blocks found in the European S6 V8 models and built them up with newer style coil-pack heads/intake."
