    Aby Water Pump

Can someone confirm that the ABY water pump has 26 or 29 teeth the reason I'm asking is I have just bought a febi bilstein one and On checking the guide for timing belt change on S2Central it gives the ABY pump as having 26 teeth and there are 29 on the pump I have but as a ABY part number 054-121-004

    Thanks in advance.

ABY and AAN are 29 teeth. ADU is 26 teeth.

PN for the AAN/ABY should be 054121004AX. 054121004 was dropped 31/10/1992 for the 054121004A which in turn was dropped for the 054121004AX on 31/12/1998.

    ADU water pump is 034121004B.

Good old Dave has answered your question in his usual encyclopedic way, what a fellow to have on the forum!! I am doing a cambelt change on my AAN S6 so am interested in your reason for buying a Febi Bilstein pump. Is it What Audi would supply? Plus what price are they? I rang Audi yesterday they quoted me £89 for the genuine pump but they couldn't when i asked tell me who makes them. Cheers

Personally I wouldn't use Febi, not very good quality. For an important component like this I'd go with a dealer part

I was quoted £93.60 by Tps so went on fleabay and saw the febi one for £34.99 delivered. And febi being a German company it should be good quality it certainly looks it Even comes with the o ring gasket which audi want £5.45 for. I'm pretty happy with it.

Don't dealers do exchange water pumps anymore?
I remember new ones being significantly cheaper if you gave them your old one back.

that's correct. just had water pump and cam belt done. VW wanted old pump back to refurbished parts . Personnally for a component so critical to your car engine l would only replace with genuine like for like components and its a big job to do if it fails

Hi Bilko. Please dont take this the wrong way as all i am interested in is the best quality and to let others know. Tps are a Joke IMHO charging more than Audi. I read somewhere on the forum there were special rates at Tps. Doesn't look like it

I hear what you saying about German gear so it must be good but Febi do bushes too for and i have heard they are nowhere near as good as Gen Audi.

I am going Gen Audi anyway but i was just interested why you went Febi in case i missed something.

Do you know how much VW charged you for the exchange pump? My dealer never offered that option,

You still get the same pump if you give them your old one or not, it just costs a lot less if you do give them your old one.
I was told the exchange item part number ends with an X

This was a few years ago btw.
