    Urgent leaking fuel help please.

Hi all. Recently bought an Audi S2 Avant aby that monkey magic just saved and I have had an issue today. Have been running round with a little fuel in the tank for the last few days and have noticed a fuel smell when driving occasionally when I out my foot down. Filled it up to top for the first time and came home parking it on the drive nose in on a slight downward slope. Noticed the fuel smell again and when looked underneath fuel is dripping off the bottom of the fuel tank quickly jacked it from the rear drivers side and it's stopped dripping.

Help please where do I start looking for this one

More than likely the fuel line has rusted . Most likely where it mounts to the body in the rubber clamps.

Ok will check there when little man asleep. All fuel lines looked to have been replaced. Maybe just not joined correctly. Seemed to be running down the side of the tank rather than from the line itself. But all help appreciated and will check it

Oh maybe have a look at the access panel under the carpet in the rear. You can see where the lines feed into the tank. You might see evidence of whats going on there.

I can see the three fuel lines that run to the front of the car they appear to go in to the front most area of the tank. The leak would appear to running off the rear most portion of the tank.

The access panel you refer to. Which side is it Eric. I take it I remove the rear sqabs then remove the rear of the carpet in the footwell, which side am I aiming for.

Hopefully this will be a quick fix

Just make sure you check all the ends of any rubber hosing to make sure it's not perished.....

Right. Been hunting with beer paid assistance from monkey magic. Found this.

Steve says it's called a bucket. But the plastic housing on top of the fuel pump has three cracks in it as can be seen in photo. The smell was coming from there and with engine running you can feel air being blown out. Covered it with some filling ptx instant gasket and the smell has gone. So I need one of these. Anyone know what they are called for the wanted section please.

I thought that, as he had only just handed it over, he would come to the rescue. Still a few beers lubricates it nicely. Good car mates are hard to come by

Audi still have them , best get a new one as the s/h one will be like this too if not then close to it. Another common failure point. I can get you a part number later
